When A Nation Disregards God
Don’t Give Up Hope When Your Nation Gives Up Honor
Today lawmakers have affirmed a woman who doesn’t know what a woman is to a lifetime appointment to the most powerful court in our land. It is a blatant disregard for God, His Word, and his image. The Bible says,
Genesis 1:27 ESV “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”
I notice at the start of this verse there is a “So.” So what does that indicate? The verse before goes:
Genesis 1:26 ESV “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.””
Now let’s connect the two: God is saying that he made man in his image to have dominion over creation, SO he made them male and female in his image. The distinction of genders and their roles is essential to fulfilling the mandate of dominion in the world. What happens when man rejects this?
Instead of man having dominion over the creation, the creation begins to have dominion over man. For this we should lament.
Nonetheless, we do remain there because,
Hebrews 2:9 ESV “But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.”
This reinforces the fact that the truth is stronger than anyone or anything, and why we don’t need to be hanging our arms limp and our lives empty of power that God gives us to look forward with hope in spite of the folly of the world.
When a nation disregards God, there are many things we may be tempted to do as God’s people, but one is not to give up.
