What is “Worth Everything” to you? Is your soul worth everything?
Think about it won’t you?

Worth Everything
“The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it” (Matthew 13:44–46).
We may spend a lot of words referring to what we just missed. We just missed getting a particular job. We almost got that scholarship. We were so close to moving to a certain city. Or we almost missed our flight. We came so close to getting sick. We nearly lost our job. Close proximities to gain or loss seem to mark human existence.
Sometimes, what we miss doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things. Missing a flight is not the end of the world. Not getting a scholarship or a job doesn’t make or break our lives. Whether we live in this city or another, in the larger picture, shouldn’t affect character or relationships.
But one thing missed counts for eternity. One “treasure hidden in the field,” one “pearl of great price,” missed, means we lose everything. We can be so close to knowing God, so close to a true relationship with God through Jesus Christ, but never experience life in Christ. Imagine, many walked right over the treasure but didn’t see it or walked past the exquisite pearl and didn’t notice. Such happens daily by multitudes who hear the good news of Jesus but do not notice Him.
It’s not that Jesus is unknowable. He’s revealed Himself and the way to know Him through the gospel declaring His death for sinners and resurrection to life. That God the Creator is knowable, in itself, should give enough reason to pursue knowing Him at all costs. But He is not known casually. Selling all we have to buy a buried treasure or forsaking everything to own the pearl of great price, reveals relationship to Jesus as eternal treasure, worth everything.
No doubt, most people do not give relationship with God a second thought. They blindly journey through life without a care in the world. They think that their moral behavior or noble principles or charitable spirit or Christian connections with family or friends suffice to spend eternity with this God. They assume He counts it His privilege to welcome them into eternity.
Don’t you get that thought when listening to the vague way that people outside the evangelical world talk about God? They presume that nothing separates them from God while also giving zero attention to their spiritual condition. Their idea of knowing God has no cross, bloody death, atonement for sin, imputed righteousness, or dependence upon the mercy and grace of God. With a carefree spirit, they practice whatever religious ideas suit their taste. We dare not interrupt them!
But the good news of Jesus Christ shatters such a comfortable world. The gospel exposes human sinfulness, separation from God, helplessness before God, and hopelessness in human achievement to attain life with God. It proclaims: no cross, no crown; no atonement, no forgiveness; no resurrection, no life. The gospel, while good news, first delivers the bad news. Our self-oriented views of God will not last past the grave. Our dependence upon religious effort is in vain. But He is a treasure of incomparable value, costly in His death and resurrection, hidden treasure, pearl of great price, worth everything for eternity
