There are two beds mentioned in Song of Solomon 3. The church makes her bed in God’s promises (3:1) praying to her Lord, but she disdains the litter bed of Solomon’s patriarchal world (3:7). One cannot love the world and love God at the same time. The hopeful thing is this: the world is passing away and its desires, but the one who does the will of God remains forever! (cf. 1 John 2:15–17).
