Lord’s Day Preparation
For Sunday, March 6, 2022
At Catherine Lake Baptist we have the glad opportunity to baptize an 80-year-old believer named Roy. I am anticipating this time with joy and thanksgiving just as it was a joy to baptize an 8-year-old a few weeks ago. I mention this because the church has been entrusted with the sacraments: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. More controversy existed over the Lord’s Supper in church history than baptism. Yet, one thing that was not controversial was when the Lord’s Supper was to be observed. They gathered on the first day of the week, which was the Lord’s Day to have the Lord’s Supper. This teaches us at least two things. First, the sacraments were attached to worship. Second, worship was on Sunday. Concerning baptism, it is also attached to the church and it is proper to do so when we gather, because church means a gathered assembly; and baptism is a public ordinance of the church carried out by authorized ministers.
Now, I am also preaching on the Sovereignty of God tomorrow. For which I found this helpful sign, for which only TULIP fans will get the greatest appreciation from. Rest well tonight, and may God bless.
