The above graphic grows out of my study in the Song of Solomon 1:2–2:7. In this section, the key to interpreting it is found in the contrast between king Solomon (inside, type of the world) and the bride and her true Shepherd lover (outside, a type of the church with her Christ). The contrast of outside imagery to that of where Solomon is inside is striking. It offers further proof that Solomon is not the lover that the bride is seeking after, she is made for another greater, namely the Lord Jesus Christ.
